Position Details
The Village of Glenwood is now accepting applications for lateral hires for the position of Full-Time Police Officer.
Interviews will be conducted to establish an eligibility list for immediate department hiring needs.
The Glenwood Police Department is committed to creating and maintaining a professional and community-oriented police department. With its diverse Department, it is equipped and trained to handle various types of emergency situations. In addition, their officers are involved in a variety of in-house specialties, regional task forces, and specialized units such as:
- South Suburban Emergency Response Team (SWAT)
- South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force
- Mobile Field Force
- Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team
- Regional Tactical Units
- Full-Time Investigation Division
- Bike Patrol
- Sustained Traffic Enforcement Program, grant funds for overtime details.
- Firearms instructors
- Evidence Technicians
- Defensive Tactics Instructors
You must meet the following minimum requirements:
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Must have at least two (2) years of full-time law enforcement experience
- Must be an Illinois full-time certified officer
- Must be in good standing with ILETSB and your current/ former departments.
- Must have been awarded a certificate attesting to the successful completion of the Minimum Standards Basic Law Enforcement Training Course as provided in the Illinois Police Training Act. Evidence of such will be subject to final approval and waiver by ILETSB
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
- Must have proof of High School Diploma, GED Certificate or High School Proficiency Statement.
- Not have been convicted of a felony, a crime of moral turpitude or any misdemeanor specifically listed in Section 10-2.1-6 of the Act, 65 ILCS 5/10-2.16 as amended.
- Vision: Correctable to 20/20 in both eyes.
- Pass a psychological and polygraph examination

- Driver’s License
- High School Diploma, GED Certificate or High School Proficiency Statement/ College Diploma if listed on the Application
- DD-214 form (if applicable)
- Birth Certificate and/or Certificate of Citizenship
- Permanent Resident Card (if applicable)
- Applicable Training Certificates
- Proof of passing ILETSB-approved Police academy
