Police Officer (Part-Time)

• Be at least Part-Time certified by the Illinois Law enforcement Training Standards Board or be certified by another state where training and experience would qualify to become certified.
• Be a high school graduate or possess a GED equivalent
• Possess a valid driver’s license
• Ability to work nights and weekends on occasion. 
• Must be an effective communicator.

Must comply and successfully complete:

• Pre-employment screenings including an in-depth background check and interview by Command Staff of Police Department

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Enforces minor Village ordinances regarding parking, zoning, health, and code related violations.
• Provides additional assistance to sworn police officers.
• Assists in traffic direction for minor and major injury traffic collisions
• Acts as courier for Village documents
• Assists with prisoner meals and checks
• May be assigned to handle court files and attend court hearings
• Is responsible for the citing and removal of junk and unsafe vehicles as directed by supervisor
• Required to perform the function as crossing guard and traffic control as directed
• Assists motorists in need

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

• Ability to walk, stand, bend, crouch, stoop, or sit for varying periods of time
• Ability to hear and see in the normal range, with or without correction
• Occasionally work in situations that may pose a physical danger
• Ability to hear communications via radio and respond
• May be exposed to in climate weather, fumes & dust when performing traffic duties
• Occasionally lift and carry 10 – 50lbs 
• Ability to re-interpret and write complex reports
