Salary:

• Starting: $69,914 (Effective May 1, 2022: $71,836)

  • After 1.5 years: $73,410  (Effective May 1, 2022: $75,429)

  • EDUCATION INCENTIVE: Officers are eligible for this benefit only after completing their probationary period.
  • Associate’s Degree: Police Science $1,000.00
  • Bachelor’s Degree: Education/Business $1,200.00
  • Bachelor’s Degree: Criminal Justice/Psychology $1,500.00
  • Master’s Degree:  For Police Related Curriculums $1,750.00
  • UNIFORM ALLOWANCE - $800 per year with $425 carryover.

  BENEFITS:

A life insurance policy is provided equivalent to the officer's current base salary rate with an option for the employee to purchase up to an additional life insurance at excellent rates.
  • PENSION PLAN FOR POLICE OFFICERS
  • 5/2-5/3 WORK SCHEDULE; 8.5 HOUR Shifts
  • VACATION PROGRAM – After 1 year of service: 12 shifts – After 5 years: 15 shifts – After 10 years: 20 shifts – After 15 years: 25 shifts.
  • PERSONAL TIME - 3 personal days off per year with pay
  • HOLIDAYS - 12 automatically paid holidays (If worked, an additional 4 hours premium pay, for 6 of the Holidays)
  • SICK LEAVE - Employees earn 1 day per month and may accumulate up to 240-8hour days.
  • BEREAVEMENT LEAVE - 5 days leave with pay are available upon the death of anyone in the immediate family.
  • RESIDENCY - The River Forest Police Department has no residency or geographical boundary requirement prior to employment.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Applicants must be citizens of the United States.
• Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and under 35 years of age at the time of application and at the time the final eligibility list is posted; unless exempt from such age limitation as provided in the Fire and Police Commissioners Act.
• NEW EDUCATIONAL STANDARDS: Applicants must provide a college transcript showing proof of a minimum of 30 credit hours from an accredited Community College, College or University.
• Applicants must submit proof that they have passed the Illinois Peace Officer Wellness Evaluation Report (POWER) Test dated between February 19, 2021 to February 19, 2022.

It is mandatory you attend this Orientation meeting and arrive on time to be eligible to sit for the exam.

Check in time commences at 6:00 PM. No one will be admitted to the Orientation after 7:00 PM.
