Firefighter/Paramedic

Competitive Selection Process

The North Maine Fire Protection District is accepting applications for the purpose of establishing an eligibility list for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic.

Applicants must:

• Be at least 21 years old at time of application and less than 35 years of age at the end of the application deadline, unless otherwise provided by state or federal law
• Be Paramedic (EMT-P) licensed in the State of Illinois prior to the application deadline
• Have a valid CPAT card and ladder certificate dated no earlier than February 25, 2021 

Position Details:

The Board of Fire Commissioners is seeking applicants for the full-time position of firefighter-paramedic, for the purpose of establishing an eligibility list for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic. Candidates will be required to successfully pass a written examination and oral interview to be placed on the eligibility roster.

Summary of Qualifications:

• Age: Applicants must be at least 21 years old at time of application and less than 35 years of age at the end of the application deadline unless otherwise provided by state or federal law.
• Health: Must pass both a medical and psychological examination as a condition of employment.
• Character: No felony convictions and must possess good moral character. There will be a background check along with fingerprinting as a part of the hiring process
• Residency: There is no residency requirement
• Education: All applicants must be Paramedic (EMT-P) licensed in the State of Illinois prior to the application deadline
• Language: Applicants must be able to speak, read and write in the English language
• Driver Qualifications: Must possess a valid driver's license
• Fee: A $20 non-refundable test fee will be payable when turning application in

Upon conditional offer of employment, the candidate must successfully complete a psychological, polygraph, background and medical evaluation.
