The City of Gillette, a vibrant, growing community of approximately 32,000 people located in NE Wyoming is looking for a Police Chief. Serving as a member of the City’s senior leadership team and reporting to the City Administrator, the Police Chief manages all activities and operations of the Police Department, including grant funded programs.
Applicant should be a talented senior management professional from a law enforcement background of comparable complexity and size, with knowledge and experience in community policing. Candidates should have experience working in a community undergoing rapid growth, be able to handle a high volume workload, have proven negotiation skills, be proactive, have a strong ability to listen to departmental personnel and develop employees. The new Chief must have strong leadership skills, be politically astute and demonstrate good critical thinking abilities.
The ideal candidate should demonstrate the ability to work ethically in an organization driven by strong values. The candidate shall have proven skills directing and motivating others, managerial courage, strategic agility and be able to communicate purpose and vision throughout the department.
