The Vancouver Police Department is currently seeking qualified applicants for Entry Level and Lateral Police Officers.

Testing for Lateral Police Officers is commonly available on the first Thursday of each month. Bilingual lateral candidates are especially encouraged to apply.

The Patrol work schedule is 5/4, 5/4, 5/5 working 10.5 hour days which guarantees at least two weekends off every month. The Vancouver Police Department also offers lots of opportunities for career growth by way of assignment to a wide list of specialized units, including Major Crimes Detectives, Property Crimes Detectives, Domestic Violence Detectives, Neighborhood Response Team Detectives, SWAT, Career Criminal Apprehension Unit, Canine Unit, Traffic Investigations, Traffic Motor Unit, School Resource Officers, and others.

$4,418 per month (2008)

Top Step Police Officer:

$5,921 per month (2008)

Add 2.5% for two year degree and 5% for four-year degree.
