Applicants/Candidates can qualify based on a combination of experience, training and education:

• Fifteen (15) years of Municipal law enforcement experience, with a minimum of five (5) years as a sergeant or above in a comparable size agency and

• Must have graduated from the Law Enforcement Institute of Texas (LEMIT), ILEA or the FBI National Academy OR,

• Twelve (12) years of Municipal law enforcement experience, with a minimum of five (5) years as a lieutenant or above in a comparable or larger agency with a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Police Science, Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, Public Administration, OR,

• Ten (10) years of Municipal law enforcement experience, with a minimum of five (5) years as a lieutenant or above in a mid-size or larger agency, with a Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Police Science, Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, Public Administration or closely related field.             
   

1. Before appointment must possess an Advanced Peace Officer Certificate in Law Enforcement from T.C.L.E.O.S.E.
    

2. Must possess a valid Texas Class C driver’s license.
