CITY OF TOLEDO:

 

This recruitment process is planned to establish eligibility lists for both existing vacancies (2) as well as to establish a hiring list for future needs. Officers will be ranked based on training and experience.

 

Hire Minimum Requirements:
 

Current Oregon certification as a Police Officer, or certified in another state and able to be certified as a police officer in Oregon. Preference given to Oregon-certified Police Officers.

Preference given to officers certified as School Resource Officers.

Willing to provide copies of reports written by applicant (One each of Felony Arrest, DUII, Theft, Burglary, Accident, and Miscellaneous)

 

Duties:
 

Performs police patrol, investigation, crime prevention, traffic regulation, and related law enforcement activities. Requires ability to work without direct supervision in emergencies; and exercise considerable independent judgment and discretion.

CERTIFIED applicants will receive preference and mid-range salary eligibility. Applicants will be subject to an in-depth background investigation.

 

Minimum Requirements:
 

Must be:

(1) 21 years or older at the time of employment

(2) U.S. citizen

(3) able to proficiently and effectively read, speak, and write the English language; preference may be given for bilingual skills

(4) of good moral character and of temperate and industrious habits

(5) available to work all shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed

(6) Current Certification as a Police Officer in Oregon, or able to be certified with 2-week Career Officer Development Course.

 

Preference may be given for an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, social science, or related field.

 

Must meet:

(1) department's physical qualifications, which may include physical agility testing and psychological examination

(2) state requirements including training, vision, hearing, and background standards for certification as a law enforcement officer with the Board of Public Safety Standards and Training.

 

Must pass comprehension and medical exams, including a drug screen, prior to employment.

 

Salary:
 

Six-step Range from $2668 to $3206, starting step dependant on years of police experience. Certificate pay up to $125 per certificate, excellent benefits. FTO pay.

Toledo boasts a growing art community, a significant industrial tax base, and supportive and involved community leaders. Toledo Police Department has 9 sworn positions, 5.5 non-sworn, with a full time dispatch facility.
