JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Director of Public Safety Programs provides instructional vision, leadership, management and support for faculty and curricula for all public safety programs in collaboration with the Dean of Career Programs. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master’s Degree from an accredited institution of higher education

• Must be certified or eligible (prior to employment) to be a Certified School Director/Instructor with the NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission

• Two years work experience in instructional, training or law enforcement area

• Teaching experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:

Preferred qualifications include knowledge of current student learning outcomes assessment and curriculum development; exceptional oral, written, organizational, interpersonal and technical skills; commitment to student-centered principles, customer-service orientation and understanding of and commitment to the unique role of the community college; understanding of the needs of first year and non-traditional students; ability to work as a team member; awareness of regional and global public safety trends.

SALARY/BENEFITS:

• Salary is according to current compensation plan.

• Benefits include paid holidays, annual and sick leave, medical insurance (free to employees), and participation in the N.C. State Retirement System.

• Not applicable for part-time temporary employees.
