Northfield Police Department

CITY OF NORTHFIELD, MINNESOTA – (population 18,256) is currently seeking two full time police officers for investigating crimes, and patrolling the city, responding to calls to ensure that applicable laws, ordinances, and regulations are followed. Incumbents perform tasks associated with law enforcement and public safety, including preventing crime, apprehending criminals and protecting property and life. Excellent wage and benefits.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed by the Minnesota Post Board prior to hire. Applicants from other states must have proof of eligibility for licensure from the Minnesota Post Board before first interview on November 1, 2007.
Must have knowledge of community policing and problem solving, modern investigative methods, criminal law, search and seizure and evidence preservation.
Valid Minnesota Driver’s License within two weeks of hire.

DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS:

Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice, Police Science, or a related field, with previous criminal justice experience.
Any combination of education or experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered.
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
