POLICE OFFICER

The Hagerstown MD Police Department is accepting applications for the position of police officer. 

Applicants with recent (within three years) certification from any state may call the number below to schedule a written test and interview.  The written test will be waived for Maryland certified applicants.

Successful recently certified out-of-state applicants will attend approximately five weeks of classroom and firearms training, followed by field training.   Maryland certified applicants will attend approximately one week of classroom and firearms training followed by field training.  The length of field training will depend on the applicant’s prior experience.

Testing for applicants with no prior state certification will be held on March 2 and 3, 2007 (please call for further information on location and times).  Successful non-certified applicants will attend approximately 6 months of academy training (to begin on or about September 4, 2007) followed by a minimum of 16 weeks field training.

Starting salary for non-certified applicants and recently certified out-of-state applicants is:

$35,630 ($36,712 after July 2, 2007)

For Maryland certified applicants, starting salary is up to:

$42,265 for 5 years previous service ($44,428 after July 2, 2006)
