JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

CHIEF OF POLICE

The City of Wellington, KS seeks a community oriented, experienced, progressive individual for the position of Chief of Police.

Qualified individuals are preferred to have:

• Ten (10) years experience in law enforcement with five (5) plus years of progressive management experience

• A Bachelor’s degree is preferred, but significant years of experience will be considered in lieu of a degree

• State of Kansas certification or a solid commitment to obtain the certificate FBI National Academy a plus

Under supervision of the City Manager, candidates should possess strong skills and/or experience in leadership, communication, budgeting and community based policing.  The position is responsible for continuous enforcement of laws and ordinances, police operations of a 20 member department, instilling motivation, discipline and developing positive rapport with the community.  Residency is required.

Starting salary range is $46,610 to $69,544 dependent on qualifications with excellent benefit package.
