ANNOUNCEMENT OF EXAMINATION

FOR THE POSITION OF POLICE OFFICER
 


The Village of Woodridge, Illinois (population 33,000) a progressive and growing community 30 miles west of Chicago, is seeking individuals with a high degree of personal and professional integrity to participate in a competitive process to establish an eligibility register for the position of Police Officer.

The mission of the Woodridge Police Department is to provide dedicated professional service and impartial law enforcement in an active partnership with the citizens of the Village of Woodridge to achieve a higher quality of life for all.  Recognizing the changing and diverse needs of the community, the department provides and encourages a policy of professional and individual excellence which is enhanced by continuing education and training.

The Village of Woodridge Board of Police Commissioners is charged with the appointment of all Police Officers. 

 

 

To be considered for employment, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • High school diploma or hold a G.E.D. certificate.  Preference
    points are available for college credit, military service and prior law
    enforcement officer experience.
     

  • Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of the last date for filing applications, except as otherwise provided by the Statues of the State of Illinois.  Applicants shall be under the age of 35 years at the time of the last date for filing applications and at such time as the final eligibility list is posted unless exempt from such age limitations as provided by the Board of Fire and Police Commission Act.
     

  • Must be a United States Citizen.
     

  • Must have binocular vision corrective to 20/40, make color distinctions, and have normal depth perception and normal hearing ability.
     

  • Attend Orientation (no exceptions) and pass all phases of testing process.
     

  • Good moral character and meeting of all the requirements of the Board of Police Commissioners and the State of Illinois.

The Board of Police Commissioners will hold an orientation session on Saturday, March 12, 2005.  The written test will be given on March 19, 2005.  Attendance at both of these events is mandatory.
