Campus Police Officer (Part-Time)

This police officer position is responsible for protection of life and property to ensure security and safety on the Waubonsee Community College campuses in accordance with the authority and responsibility granted to sworn police officers in the Illinois Public Community College Act, school policies, department General and Special Orders and professional codes of ethics.  The position is responsible to the Campus Police Chief.  This position requires individuals to have a demonstrated "spirit of service"; to work collaboratively with all facets of the college community to raise public awareness; support collective problem-solving, and engage in proactive policing activities to encourage a respectful culture while executing the assigned duties of the police officer position.

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in Criminal Justice or a related field from an accredited university or college preferred.

• Three years related policing experience required.

• Ability to be certified or recertified by the State of Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board as a Police Officer within three months of appointment.

• Ability to be certified in First Responder First Aid/CPR.

• Ability to pass psychological and medical fitness for duty exam before hiring, and maintain physical and psychological fitness through on-going medical or psychological evaluation as deemed necessary by the Campus Police Chief or the Office of Human Resources. 

• Twenty-one years of age or older.

• Vision correctable to 20-20 with no color blindness.

• Possess a valid Illinois driver's license.

• Ability to pass a background investigation covering employment, credit history, education, driving, and criminal records.

• Ability to work weekends and nights and occasional on-call hours.

• Must be a United States Citizen.
