The Village has a total operating budget (FY 2018) of approximately $48 million with a department budget of approximately $7.6 million.  There are three different unions representing employees in the Police Department; the Sergeants and Lieutenants are represented by the Teamsters, Patrol Officers are represented by the Metropolitan Alliance of Police (MAP), and clerical and Community Service Officers (CSOs) are represented by AFSCME, respectively.  Relations with the unions are courteous and professional.

Qualified individuals will have 7-10 years of experience in municipal law enforcement.  Successful candidates should have the ability to lead, coach and train staff in a focused and effective manner.  Candidates should also be community oriented and able to maintain positive relationships with residents, schools (District 45, 48, and 88) and the business community.
