Villa Park Police Department Lateral Hire List

The Village of Villa Park Board of Fire and Police Commission is now accepting applications for lateral-hire police officers. This accelerated hiring process is a progressive means of hiring qualified, experienced law enforcement professionals.  

• Must have no felony convictions or misdemeanor convictions involving moral turpitude

• Must hold a high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate

• Must have two (2) years of previous law enforcement experience within the State of Illinois

• Certification by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board

• Validated evidence of successful completion of the Minimum Standards Basic Law Enforcement Training Course pursuant to the Illinois Police Training Act

• Must be of good moral character, of temperate habits, of sound health and must be physically and mentally able to perform the duties of the position for which the applicant is applying

All Applicants who meet the above requirements must:

• Complete an application

• Furnish job experience documentation

• Successfully complete a physical aptitude test

• Participate in an interview process

• Successfully complete a background investigation, including a polygraph examination

• Successfully complete a visual, in-depth psychological examination, medical examination, and drug test
