Triton College, a comprehensive two year institution located in a near western
suburb of Chicago, is seeking a Communications Officer to join our team.
Answers incoming emergency and routine assistance calls for the Police
Independently assesses need and urgency of requests and situations and
dispatches emergency response personnel including law enforcement personnel and
mutual aide personnel to incident/accident scenes.
Receives and accurately relays/transcribes information, messages and requests
for the Communications Center.
Enters data and information into Triton College Police Department and State
Operates radio and telecommunication systems including UHF & VHF mobile and
portable radios, fax machines, and telephones.
Maintains knowledge of current communication policies and procedures and state,
national and local dispatch standards.
Performs emergency warning notifications, performs clerical and general office
functions, and provides court testimony as required.
Monitors burglar and fire alarms, and notifies appropriate person/agency as
required, operates LEADS system: Enters stolen vehicles/items, missing persons
and other information, maintains logs, records and files as required.
Operates closed circuit television systems and numerous interior and exterior
controllable cameras throughout campus.
Other duties as assigned
Diploma or G.E.D
Must be computer literate.
Must have a valid driver's license.
Ability to work overnight shifts, must work weekend shifts and must work
years of age or older.
Special Instruction to Applicants:
Rate of pay is $11.20 per hour
Maximum of 28 hours per week
Recommended candidate for hire will be subject to a background check, drug test
and must pass written polygraph test
Must pass Law Enforcement Agencies Data System test within 3 weeks of hire
Must pass all FEMA National Incident Management testing
