Tri-Com Central Dispatch is accepting applications for the position of Deputy Director. Tri-Com is a consolidated 9-1-1 center, providing 9-1-1 police and fire dispatch services to St Charles, Geneva, Batavia and Elburn. The center employs 22 people and serves a population of approximately 125,000 residents.
The Deputy Director works under the direction of the Executive Director and is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and is responsible for the staffing, performance and conduct of the employees handling the 9-1-1 calls and dispatching police, fire EMS. The Deputy Director supervises the Training Coordinator, 3 shift supervisors and 13 dispatchers.
Candidates should possess an Associate’s degree in public safety management or related field and have at least 3 years of progressively responsible management or supervisory experience in public safety is required. A minimum of five years of experience in a 9-1-1 public safety communications environment or related field and a Bachelor’s degree in the public safety, management or related field is preferred. NENA Emergency Number Provider (ENP) or APCO Registered Public-Safety Leader (RPL), Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD), Law Enforcement Agencies Data System (LEADS), CPR certifications preferred.
Candidates must have excellent leadership, management, interpersonal and communications skills. Candidates must have knowledge of and possess the ability to perform ALL essential job tasks and responsibilities of an emergency telecommunicator, including use of the following critical systems: E9-1-1 phone system, radio system, Computer Aided Dispatch and related public safety communications technology. Knowledge of police and fire operations and experience with quality assurance is a must.
Final candidate will be required to successfully pass a medical exam, drug screening, psychological test, personality profile and an extensive background check.
The salary range is:
$67,829 - $95,758
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
