Code Compliance Officer

 

The Village of Tinley Park has a position available for full-time Code Compliance Officer assigned to the Building Department of the Village of Tinley Park. This position works under the direction of the Building Commissioner.

 

The Code Compliance Officer performs a variety of routine and complex work in the interpretation of adopted codes, related rules and regulations to achieve compliance and mitigate problems.  Must possess proven leadership, management and interpersonal skills in order to achieve the solution drive results. Must possess working knowledge of code enforcement principles, inspection techniques, practices, and methods as applicable to a municipal setting as well as a working knowledge of applicable laws, standards and regulations relating to various nuisances, public safety codes and land uses. Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with citizens, employees, supervisors, the business community, homeowner associations and Village residents.   Must be in the position to attend Administrative Hearings one Wednesday per month.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent,  plus three to six (3-6) years of experience  related to inspection, law enforcement or related fields with ICC Certification for Property Maintenance

  • In the alternative, Bachelorís Degree from an accredited college or university in Environmental Health or a closely related field is preferred plus two (2) years of experience related to inspection, law enforcement or related fields with ICC Certification for Property Maintenance

  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid driverís license.

 

Residency Requirement:

 

Must establish and maintain residency within the planning area as defined in the Villageís comprehensive plan within one (1) year of employment.
