Chief of Police
The Village of Round Lake, Illinois seeks a Chief of Police. The person desired will be an experienced law enforcement professional with skills in planning, and supervision, who is committed to community service. Candidates must possess strong leadership skills, a collaborative, team oriented approach to management, a record of visibility and participation in the community, and a commitment to training, professional development and community engagement.
Round Lake is a growing municipality in Lake County, IL with a population of approximately 16,500. The police department recently went through the accreditation process with CALEA. The department consists of 22 sworn officers and recently built a brand new facility.
A bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Public Administration, Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, or a related field is desired. An advanced degree is preferred. Completion of additional specialized programs such as FBI National Academy, Southern Police Institute, or Northwestern Center for Public Safety School of Staff and Command is also highly desirable.
