The Village of Romeoville, Illinois, an Equal Opportunity Employer, is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic examination, without regard to race, color, creed, gender or ethnic origin, to establish an eligibility list for current and future openings in the Romeoville Fire Department.



Qualifications for Application:

  • At time of filling an application, an applicant for a position in the Fire Department must be a citizen of the United States

  • High school graduate or GED

  • At least 21 and under 35 years of age at time of application, otherwise provided by State or Federal law, local ordinance or resolution

  • Valid driverís license

  • Illinois licensed EMT-P at time of hire. Applicants enrolled in a State of Illinois IDPH approved paramedic program shall be allowed to complete the testing process. Applicants must provide proof of enrollment in the program by submitting a letter from the organization sponsoring their enrollment or by the course administrator, on their letterhead

  • Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) Certificate that includes ladder climb, current within the last calendar year from time of application due date August 12, 2016. (Applicants that obtain a ranking on the final eligibility list and are notified of a conditional offer of employment whose CPAT certification card has expired may be require to successfully pass the test again, prior to advancing in the hiring process. Applicants shall be responsible for all cost associated with the CPAT, and ladder climb testing.)


A mandatory Orientation and Written Exam

will be held on:


Saturday, August 20, 2016


Sign in starts at 8:30 AM and the Orientation will start at 9:00 AM.


The written test will follow immediately after the Orientation.
