NOTICE OF TESTING FOR FIGHTER-PARAMEDIC
Village of Romeoville Fire & Police Commission is charged with the appointment
of all full time Firefighter-Paramedics. This is a full-time, sworn position in
one of Illinois fastest growing communities. The village of Romeoville is
located in the Southwest suburbs of Chicago in an area approximately 16 square
miles and is home to approximately 35,000 residents. The Romeoville Fire
Department employs 13 full-time and 62 part-time members. The department
responds to over 3000 calls per year and is an I.S.O. Class 4 community.
The position of Firefighter-Paramedic with the Romeoville Fire Department is
charged with providing high quality fire suppression, emergency medical service,
public education, and customer services to the citizens of Romeoville. The
successful candidate will be offered an outstanding opportunity for growth and

Required Qualifications include:
High school graduate or equivalent (GED).
U.S. Citizen.
Possess valid drivers license which must be shown as identification at all
phases of testing.
Must be 21 years of age or over and under 35 years of age at time of hire except
as otherwise provided by state statute.
Attend Orientation (no exception) and all phases of testing.
Office of the State Fire Marshall Firefighter II Certification or bypass exam.
Licensed State of Illinois Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (must present
license at time of offer of employment).

The Romeoville Fire Department operates on a 24 on/48 off work schedule.
Successful candidates will be placed on a eighteen month probationary period in
which after successful completion, will become a regular member of the
department.
Applicants must attend the orientation, pass a written test, oral exam,
polygraph test, background investigation, and a pre-employment, post offer
psychological and medical examination.
