Fire/EMS Telecommunicator

The Regional Emergency Dispatch (RED) Center, a multi-jurisdictional, Fire/EMS Dispatch Center located in Northbrook, IL is currently accepting applications for full time employment.  There is currently one open position to be filled through this current hiring process.

RED Center dispatches Fire/EMS calls for service for 13 Fire Departments located in the northern suburbs of Chicago.  In addition, RED Center is a MABAS Division Headquarters, and currently is the single point of contact for various county and statewide mutual aid and special response plans.

Starting Salary:

$47,016

Telecommunicators work a rotating shift comprised of 2 days/2 nights on duty - 4 days off duty.  Shifts are 12 hours in duration.

The prospective employee must have the ability to multi-task and to be decisive in a fast paced stressful environment.  Candidate must have a clear speaking voice, good hearing and good verbal communications.

• Prior Public Safety Dispatch experience is preferred

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• Successfully complete testing process

• Obtain and maintain CPR & EMD (NAEMD) certification

• Bi-Lingual skills desirable
