The Rantoul Board of Fire and Police Commissioners will be accepting applications to establish an eligibility list for the position of Police Officer.

Minimum qualifications include:
Selected applicant will be required to live within a twenty mile radius of the corporate limits of Rantoul within six months after the completion of probationary period.
*(A veteran shall be allowed to exceed the maximum age provision by the number of years served on active military duty, but by no more than 10 years of active military duty.)
Applicants must successfully complete a written entrance examination, physical agility test, psychological testing, thorough background investigation, oral interview and a physical examination which includes a drug screening.

The starting hourly salary as of May 1, 2011, for this position is $22.97.

After the eligibility list is established, an oral interview will be scheduled for each candidate with the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners. Prior to hire, an applicant must undergo a background investigation, psychological and medical examination including a drug screen.
