CAREER OPPORTUNITY DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS
QuadCom 9-1-1, a regional state of the art Police and Fire Communications Center, is seeking a qualified applicant to fill an immediate opening as Director of Communications. QuadCom is an intergovernmental agency responsible for dispatching public safety agencies and uses the New World Systems CAD/RMS, Motorola MCC 5500 Radio System, Plant Vesta Enhanced 911 Phone System, and various other computers.
QuadCom provides dispatch services to 5 police departments, 4 fire departments, and MABAS Division II, and processed more than 48,826 calls for service in 2008. QuadCom has 14 full time employees and an annual budget of $1,431,526. The agency is governed by a Board of Directors which is made up of the member agencies elected officials, and overseen by an Executive Committee made up of the Chiefs of the respective departments.
The position is a salaried position, classified as managerial, with 24-hour on–call responsibilities. The Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Communications Center; annual budget preparation and administration; project planning and management; contract preparation, negotiation, and management; and interdepartmental liaison with member agencies to ensure that quality emergency communications services and computer technology functions can be delivered on a continuous basis into the future.
Qualified applicants must have a high school diploma or GED. Completion of a two (2) year college degree program (or equivalent vocational training) or a combination of experience and/or training in one or more of the following areas is desirable: Public Administration; Electronics/Telecommunications; Personnel Administration; Business Administration; Disciplines Related to Public.
Professional courses and seminars may be substituted for college classes. Must have LEADS certification or be able to obtain certification after employment. Have recent experience working in a full time capacity in a Police & Fire Communications Center. Must possess experience in a computerized public safety communications environment; experience in computer operations; a basic understanding in new technologies involved in public safety operations; the ability to effectively interact with Telecommunicators; and manage an active Emergency Communications Center.
Applicant must satisfactorily pass a background investigation and criminal history records check. The position requires the individual to establish residence within 25 miles of the QuadCom facility within one year of appointment.
Starting Salary Range:
$62,287.00 - $85,500.00
Starting salary will be based on qualifications and experience.
