Emergency Communications Shift Supervisor


QuadCom is a multi-jurisdictional, Police/Fire/9-1-1 Dispatch Center that provides emergency communications to ten municipal police and fire departments/fire protection districts located in northern Kane County, Illinois.  QuadCom utilizes a Vesta 911 Telephone System, Motorola MCC7500 Radio Console System, and New World Systems Computer Aided Dispatch System.


QuadCom 9-1-1 is currently accepting applications for the position of Full Time Emergency Communications Shift Supervisor. 



Supervisory duties include:

  • Monitoring the performance of each employee under their supervision

  • Directing and over-seeing the work flow in the communications room

  • Enforcing all standard operating procedures

  • Performance of call taker and dispatching duties

  • Investigation of all complaints against telecommunications personnel

  • Monthly employee quality assurance reviews of their assigned shift

  • Yearly employee evaluations

  • Attending communications related meetings outside of the scheduled shift as necessary


Currently starting salary for a Shift Supervisor:


$61,037.05 annually


Increases are based on a union contract.



QuadCom operates on a 5-2/5-3 8.5 hour work day rotating shift schedule for its full time staff.  After training each employee is assigned to a permanent shift that is bid annually. Shift Supervisors are subject to working weekends, mandatory shift coverage when needed, and holidays.

  • A successful candidate will possess a strong work ethic as well as a sense of responsibility to the safety of the public and agency members working in the field.

  • The ability to maintain a good rapport with member agencies as well as with team members is essential.

  • Strong candidates will be able to make decisions independent of prevalent opinions within the room.



  • Have a minimum of five (5) years 911 dispatch experience

  • Have a minimum of one (1) year 911 Supervisory experience

  • Be 21 years of Age

  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent

  • Pass a typing test of 30 wpm, written test of general knowledge, oral interview, Director’s review, and background investigation

  • Have the ability to obtain and maintain CPR, EMD, and LEADS Certifications

  • Reside within 35 miles of QuadCom


Pre-employment Process:


The successful candidate must pass a written exam, oral interview before a panel of Public Safety Professionals, and is subject to the Director’s review.  Any job offers are contingent upon background investigation.  Upon receiving a conditional job offer, a physical examination including a drug screen and hearing test must be completed.
