The City of Park Ridge, Illinois (38,000 population) seeks a qualified law enforcement professional for direction, supervision, operations and administration of nationally accredited police department. Department has a fiscal year 2008/2009 budget of $10.534 million, and a staff of 83 employees.

Qualifications:

• Successful candidate will have demonstrated experience and ability in all principles and practices of police unit operations and administration management theory and techniques.

• A strong working knowledge of criminal, civil liability and constitutional law.

• Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills required.

• Ability to work in participatory management and citizen advisory environment.

• Staff support to City Council, Public Safety Commission and other Boards.

• Management and supervisory experience very important.

• Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Law, Public Administration, Law Enforcement or a related field.

• Graduate degree is highly desirable.

• State Certified Police Officer and valid State Driver’s License required.
