FIRE CHIEF

PROFESSIONAL ANNOUNCEMENT

The City of Park Ridge (population 37,775) is seeking a Fire Chief responsible for  direction, supervision, operations and administration of nationally accredited fire department. Department fiscal year 2009/2010 budget of $7.3 million, and current staff of 50 employees. Successful candidate will have demonstrated experience and ability in all principles and practices of fire department operations and administration management theory and techniques. Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills required. Staff support to City Council, Public Safety Committee and Board of Fire and Police Commission.

Minimum qualifications required:

• Bachelor’s degree of Science or Fire or Public Administration; Master’s degree preferred

• Certified from the Office of the State Fire Marshal at Fire Officer III level and Hazardous Materials Operations and Incident Command levels

• Graduate from the National Fire Academy Executive Fire Officer Program and Chief Fire Officer Designation through the Commission on Chief Fire Officer Designation preferred

• Valid Class B State Driver’s License required
