The City of Palos Heights Police and Fire Commission will be testing for the position of full time Police Officer on July 9, 2016.

Department:

 

The Palos Heights Police Department consists of 28 full time sworn officers. The Palos Heights Police Department is a progressive police department. All patrol units are equipped with mobile data terminals and the latest technology in emergency equipment. Palos Heights Police Officers provide general law enforcement services, protect life and property, and provide other ancillary services for the community.
 


Qualifications:

  • Applicants must be United States citizens, at least 20 years of age and under 35 years of age at the time of written exam.

  • Applicant must be at least 21 years of age and under 36 years of age at time of appointment, pursuant to the Illinois Municipal Code.

  • You must possess an Associateís Degree in law enforcement or criminal justice from an accredited college or a Bachelorís Degree from an accredited college or university at the time the application is submitted.

  • Applicants that pass the written examination will be placed on an initial eligibility list; a final eligibility list will be posted after preference points have been claimed. Preference points have to be requested in writing after the written test. The final eligibility list will be posted 10 days after the posting of the initial eligibility list.

  • Further tests including an oral interview, physical agility, psychological evaluation, polygraph examination, background investigation, and medical and vision examinations, as set by the Police and Fire Commission will be required prior to employment.

Examination Process:

 

Each applicant will be required to attend an orientation session and pass a written examination. Applicants are required to have a minimum score of at least 70% in any one section.
