Oswego Police Department

The Oswego Police Department is looking to establish a Police Officer Eligibility List with quality, professional and career-oriented individuals interested in law enforcement. Police Officers are responsible for enforcing all State and Local Laws and upholding the U.S. and Illinois Constitution.

SALARY

$47,380 initial salary. Increases to $49,630.55 after 6 months and $51,881.10 after 1 year

Salary consideration will be given to state certified applicants with police experience

Step-grade salary increases, with a top-end salary of $74,381.45 after 6 years (current contract expires April 30, 2009)

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants, at such time as they file their application with the Board of Police Commissioners, must be at least 21 years of age and shall be under 35 years of age at the time the initial eligibility list is posted, unless exempt per State statute

Valid driver's license

US Citizen or will possess US Citizenship by June 19, 2009

Associates Degree (or 60 credit hours) by June 19, 2009 or a minimum of two (2) years active military duty

Complete State of Illinois Physical P.O.W.E.R. test, pass written exam and oral exams, background investigation and polygraph

Pass (after conditional job offer): Medical exam (including drug screen and eye exam) and psychological exam
