Regularly works Monday through Friday.
Two shifts include a 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM shift and a 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM shift with the possibility of working other hours/shifts as needed. Must also be able to work weekends and holidays.
Applicants will be required to complete the following, prior to employment:
Experience, length in years and kind:
Experience within the law enforcement profession; experience of five years or more as a certified police officer in the State of Illinois is preferred.
Licenses, Certificates, or Registration:
Must successfully complete the Basic Law Enforcement Academy as approved by the ILETSB, or currently be certified as a police officer.
Special Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
Must possess a valid driver's license and have a good driving record; must possess a current valid State of Illinois Firearms Owners Identification card. Applicants who are not currently certified police officers must possess a current POWER Test card.
Working Conditions/Physical Conditions:
Must have the ability to patrol inside and outside of the campus buildings at the Des Plaines and Skokie campuses in all types of weather, working all shifts (6:30 AM - 3:00 PM and 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM) including holidays and weekends. These conditions include the ability to lift (50+ pounds), climb, stoop, exert 100+ pounds of force, stand for extended periods of time, walk, run, sit, handle and manipulate objects, see, hear, talk, kneel, crouch, crawl, taste, smell, reach and balance.
Be able to exercise independent judgment, including during unusual or critical incidents; learn the physical environment; adapt to changing events, and requirements of the position; communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, using the English language; interact professionally and tactfully with people of different levels of education, cultural backgrounds and life experiences; exhibit in adequate level of respect to fellow employees and the College community at large.
Motor vehicle, firearms, impact weapon, O/C (pepper) spray, handcuffs, computers and related software, cameras and CCTV equipment, AED, fire extinguisher and various office equipment.
