Village of Oak Brook is seeking one PT Communications Operator responsible for dispatching 9-1-1 calls. The Communications Center dispatches police/fire, emergency medical calls, non-emergency calls.

Duties:

• Monitor/operate short wave radio, telephones

• Dispatch personnel, equipment, using Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), radio, telephone, methods

• Monitor police/fire/emergency medical movements/locations

• Perform other related duties

Requires ability to operate various electronic equipment. including, but not limited to, LEADS, CAD, radio console, related equipment., telephone, Mobile Data Terminal (MDT).  Requires knowledge of routine radio transmission procedures;  ability to speak clearly in well-modulated voice; to clearly hear radio/telephone communications and understand content of message/inquiry; to maintain composure when handling emergency calls; to understand/carry out oral/written instructions. 

Previous experience in Communications Center and operation of CAD, L.E.A.D.S., alarm board, 9-1-1 console, related equipment a plus, as well as general clerical experience and work with public. 

Required:

• H.S. diploma

• Availability to work 8-hour shift with rotation to staff 24-7 operation, as well as be able to be called into work in emergency situations 

Depending on experience, approximately $15 - $20/hour, ($15/hour during training period).  Open until filled.
