Northwest Central Dispatch System (NWCDS) is a consolidated, multi-jurisdictional emergency communications system serving 11 communities in the northwest suburbs of Chicago.  NWCDS is currently seeking 9-1-1 Telecommunicator applicants for full time positions.

Duties:

• Answer emergency and non-emergency calls for service

• Monitor police and fire radios

• LEADS (Law Enforcement Agencies Data System) certification

• Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) and Emergency Fire Dispatch (EFD) certification

• Work any of three eight hour shifts to cover the 24 hour operating day

• Work weekends, holidays and overtime as required

Minimum Requirements:

• 21 years old

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Type 45 wpm

• Ability to pass applicant tests, background investigation, psychological exam and medical exam including audiogram and drug screen
