The Northwestern University Police Department is seeking candidates to serve as its Manager of Accreditation and Professional Development.

 

The position reports to the Northwestern University Chief of Police and will be responsible for the agency’s accreditation/compliance efforts, internal affairs/professional standards, and training/professional development.  It is a non-sworn position and the Manager will serve as part of the Chief’s executive team and supervise a Sergeant responsible for training.

 

Northwestern University is a highly acclaimed university consisting of 19,000 students of which 8,000 are undergraduates.  Northwestern University's campuses in the U.S. are located along Lake Michigan in Evanston and Chicago, Illinois.  In 2008, Northwestern opened a third campus in Doha, Qatar's Education City.

 

The Police Department has approximately 90 full-time employees including 48 sworn officers, 25 Community Service Officers, eight dispatchers and 3 parking enforcement officers.

 

Candidates will be expected to have a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, public policy, business administration or related field and at least ten years experience in a public safety/police department.  Candidates must have excellent writing and research skills, demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships inside and outside of the department. Candidates must adhere to the highest professional standards and bring enthusiasm, professionalism and the ability to adapt to a University environment to the position.
