The City of Northlake, Illinois, an Equal Opportunity Employer, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Police Officer, without regard to race, color, creed, gender or ethnic origin, to establish an eligibility list for current and future openings in the Police Department.
Current starting salary is in the mid 40's. Lateral entry available for applicants with three or more years of full-time certified police experience. Applicants must be between 21 years of age and 35 years of age at time of hire. Applicants must be an Illinois resident upon hire date.
Applicants must have 60 hours of college credit from an accredited college or university. College requirement is waived for applicants serving two years of full-time military service with an honorable discharge. Employment contract required upon receipt of conditional offer of employment. Applicants must meet all other requirements outlined in the application packet.
Applications will be available beginning April 17, 2004 at the Northlake Police Department, located at 55 E. North Avenue, Northlake, Illinois 60164. Applications must be returned no later than May 20, 2004 at 4:00 p.m. A $15.00 non-refundable application fee is required at time of application pickup.

RE: Application and Testing Procedures
On behalf of Mayor Jeffrey Sherwin, the Northlake Police Commission, and all of our elected officials, I would like to thank you for your interest in the City of Northlake Police Department. As you read through the information in your application package, I hope you find the Northlake Police Department an organization you would like to work for.
Please read all of the instructions carefully and fill out the application completely. Do not omit any pieces of information the Police Commission has asked you to provide. The application must be turned in no later than May 20th, 2004. Applications returned after that date will not be considered. You may mail the application using the envelope you received your package in, supply your own envelope, or hand deliver it to the police station.
There will be a mandatory orientation for all applicants on June 4th, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. The mandatory orientation will be held at West Leyden High School, 1000 N. Wolf Road, Northlake, Illinois, in the school auditorium. You are welcome to bring your spouse or significant partner if you wish. If you fail to register at the orientation, you will not be allowed to continue in the process.
On Saturday, June 5th, 2004 at 9:30 a.m., we will conduct the physical ability test, which is a pass/fail test. If you pass the test, you will be eligible to continue with the written assessment test, which will be conducted directly after the physical ability test. These tests will be conducted at West Leyden High School beginning in the gymnasium. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m.
The testing process will be explained in full at the orientation as well as information including a question and answer session about the Department during the orientation. Again, I would like to thank you for your interest in our Department.
