Telecommunications Supervisor
 

The Mundelein Police Department has an opening for a Telecommunications Supervisor. This position is a civilian employee under the immediate Supervision of the Deputy Chief/Support Services. This working supervisor will oversee the operation of the Communication Center activities and the activities of 9 telecommunicators on 3 shifts, whose function is to dispatch incoming calls for service for both the Police and Fire Departments. 
 

 

Requirements:

  • High school graduate or equivalent, with completion of some college level supervisory or management courses 

  • A minimum of 5 years experience in performing public safety, police, fire, EMS dispatching duties 

  • Experience in CAD and or enhanced 911 telephone system 

  • Must hold current LEADS and Emergency Medical Dispatch certifications 

  • One to two years of supervisory experience in a similar setting.  Experience as a training officer

  • Considerable knowledge of Police, Fire, Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) and Emergency Communication Center policies and procedures

  • Possess a high level of knowledge and understanding of all emergency communication related equipment, LEADS/NCIC and FCC procedures

  • Must have the ability to think clearly and act quickly in emergency situations
