The Board of Fire Commissioners for the Minooka Fire Protection District is now accepting applications for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic.


The Minooka Fire Protection District covers an area of about 38 square miles and services three counties.  The dedicated members of the Minooka Fire Protection District strive to provide reliable emergency services, public education and awareness for their customers in a cost effective and responsible manner.

You must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Citizenship:  Must be a U.S. Citizen or legally authorized to work in the U.S.

  • Driverís License:  Must possess a valid Driverís License at the time of application with the ability to obtain an Illinois Driverís License upon time of hire.

  • Age Requirement:  Applicants MUST have attained their 21st birthday and be under the age of 35 years old at the time of application (10/30/14), unless they have been a certified full-time firefighter in the State of Illinois.

  • Education:  Must have proof of High School Diploma, GED Certificate or High School Proficiency Statement.

  • Residence:  Must live within 35 miles of the boundaries of the Fire Protection District by the completion of probation and throughout the duration of employment.

  • Character:  Must have no felony convictions.  In addition some misdemeanors may disqualify an applicant.

  • Testing:  Must be able to successfully complete all phases of testing.




All candidates MUST, at the time of application and at date of conditional offer of hire, possess an Illinois Department of Public Health Paramedic License and MUST be an Illinois Office of State Fire Marshall Certified Basic Operations Firefighter/Firefighter II.


Note:  Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) certification will be required at date of conditional offer of employment and must be no more than one year old.  This is not required at time of application.
