Police Officer

To serve and protect are more than just words to you – they’re a calling and a way of life. That’s why Metra, the Chicagoland area’s premier commuter rail system, is looking for exceptional candidates to protect life and property of our riders and our staff.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Preventing crime before it happens through attention and vigilance

• Apprehending criminals with speed and determination

• Providing general enforcement of laws and ordinances

• Performing routine patrol, preliminary investigation and vehicle code enforcement, within the metropolitan area

• Numerous other duties and responsibilities associated with this position (to be discussed during the interview process)

To succeed on our elite staff, we require:

• State of Illinois certification as a Police Officer

• 3 years of current, full-time experience as a municipal, county or state Police Officer

• That you have not been separated from police service for more than a 3-year period

• Passing a comprehensive background investigation and physical exam, including a drug screen

   

• Consideration will only be given to candidates who possess or exceed these qualifications; various other qualifications surrounding this level of responsibility will be determined during the interview
