The Emergency Communications Center Supervisor is charged with oversight of daily operations within the consolidated communications center known as North East Regional Communications (NERCOM).


Included in the job responsibilities for this position is coordination of the communication centers’ accreditation process, completing short and long term special projects, implementing various technology and information systems, attending to critical risk management issues, managing the divisions quality assurance program and communications section personnel scheduling, mentoring and management.  This employee will also be involved in the internal investigation process and handle certain levels of discipline when required.  Policy development, research into new technology and industry advancements and preparation of grant applications related to division needs are included in the job responsibilities. This position will also be involved in budget preparation for the division and training coordination for staff members.  Due to the wide range of responsibilities related to this assignment, this individual will carry a high level of responsibility and will report directly to the Commander of Support Services.




  • Must have a minimum background of ten (10) years work experience in public safety environment.

  • A minimum of three (3) years supervisory experience.

  • Experience in developing policy and overseeing programs.

  • Equivalent experience in a related field may be considered subject to review.

  • An Associate’s Degree in Public Safety or Public Administration or related field, or a combination of education and work experience equivalent to this education level.

  • Possession of or ability to obtain an appropriate, valid driver's license.

  • Possession of or ability to obtain LEADS full access certification.

  • Possession of or ability to obtain Emergency Medical Dispatch certification.

  • Certification in Emergency Medical Dispatch Quality Assurance through Priority Dispatch.
