Due to the retirement of the current Chief of Police, after a lengthy career in Law Enforcement, the Village of Manteno is beginning a search for his replacement. The Police Department consists of 17 Sworn Officers and 8 Civilians.

The successful candidate will be a highly communicative, experienced leader with a proven track record, the ability to collaborate with elected and appointed officials and departmental personnel to establish a strong and effective rapport with the department and community.
 

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in police science, criminal justice, business, public administration, or a related field. A Master’s Degree preferred

• Ten years of broad and extensive law enforcement experience including five or more years as chief or equivalent to assistant chief

• Training certifications in leadership and/or organization development

• Knowledge of modern policing practices and principles

• Graduation from the FBI National Academy, Staff and Command School-Northwestern Traffic Institute or similar training preferred

 
The salary for this position is dependent on qualification with a full package of excellent benefits.

Residency is required within a reasonable amount of time.
