TO ESTABLISH AN ELIGIBILITY LIST FOR THE POSITION OF

POLICE OFFICER

The Village of Lindenhurst has a population of approximately 15,000. The Police Department consists of 14 sworn Police Officers, 5 part-time Police Officers, 1 Community & Support Services Coordinator, 1 part-time Community Service Officer, and a Records Administrator.

 

 

THE HIRING PROCESS MAY INCLUDE:

  • Orientation Session

  • Written Examination

  • Background Investigation

  • Oral Interview

  • Polygraph Test

  • Psychological Examination

  • Medical Examination

  • Physical Aptitude Test

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

AGE:

 

Under the age of 35 years, and a minimum age of 21 at time of appointment. A 20-year-old shall be eligible to take the initial examination for police officer, if the person has completed two years of law enforcement studies at an accredited college or university.

 

EDUCATION:

 

High School graduate or equivalent.

 

DRIVER'S LICENSE:

 

Valid Driver's License.

 

VISION:

 

Correctable to 20/20, and shall not be color blind in a manner that renders the person unable to satisfactorily perform the duties of the position.

 

OTHER:

 

Ability to pass all selection, training, and hiring requirements as described in the application packet.

 

RESIDENCY:

 

No residency requirement.

 

CITIZENSHIP:

 

U.S. Citizen. Elector of United States.

Completed Registration Form and $20 Processing Fee must be received by noon on June 16, 2017.

 

 

Physical Aptitude Testing (P.O.W.E.R. Test):

 

P.O.W.E.R. Tests are conducted by the Northeastern Illinois Public Safety Training Academy (NIPSTA). Applicant must have a valid card from NIPSTA, or an acceptable equivalent, no older than six months.

A valid P.O.W.E.R. test card must be presented at the time a position becomes available, and applicant has received a conditional offer of employment.
