The Village of Lincolnwood, Illinois (12,590 (2010 census)) is seeking a responsible and energetic individual to assist the Police Department to serve as the Part-Time Records Clerk.



The Part-Time Records Clerk is a non-sworn position

responsible for:

  • Classifying, indexing, filing, storing and purging reports and record information into the Records Management System

  • Compiling and submitting all necessary reports to Federal, State and County agencies

  • Process Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Disposition Reports by filing and submitting once case is adjudicated

  • Process subpoenas for State’s Attorney’s Office, Defense Attorney’s Office, and private legal firms, as necessary

  • Excellent oral/written communication skills are required

  • The position reports to the Deputy Police Chief



  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) supplemented by training in typing, one to two years of clerical or data entry experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Experience working for a Village or Police Department is preferred


The successful candidate will possess the following characteristics and abilities:

  • Ability to deal with the public tactfully and courteously

  • Ability to use a variety of computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, New World Systems

  • Ability to proofread, photocopy, collate, sort, file, and prepare documents for mailing

This position is classified as a part-time, non-exempt, non-union position. All applicants must be able to work 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. It is expected that the position will work an average of 25 hours per week, but no more than 29 hours per week.
