DESCRIPTION:

The Lincolnway Public Safety Communications Center is seeking full time and part-time 9-1-1 Public Safety Dispatchers. The Dispatch Center is the primary answering point and dispatch center for the Village’s of Frankfort, Mokena, and New Lenox Police, and East Joliet, Frankfort, Manhattan, Mokena, and New Lenox Fire Departments, wire line and wireless emergency and non-emergency calls for law enforcement, fire and EMS. Must be able to multi-task and work effectively under stressful situations.

The primary purpose of a dispatcher is to answer and process emergency 9-1-1 and non-emergency calls for service via computer aided dispatch system, which is accomplished by answering incoming phones calls, gathering information about the request or emergency, providing information, entering the data, and dispatching personnel.  Additional duties include monitoring equipment, researching computer records for information, updating and maintaining computer files and databases, answering routine questions, and completing general office duties.  Part-time dispatchers are used to cover scheduled shift work as well covering shifts on an as-needed basis.  

• High School diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of one (1) year of related experience EMD, LEADS, and CAD certification preferred, preference given for previous experience with CAD

• Successful candidate will have a strong work ethic and sense of duty and responsibility, and be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

• Attention to detail and ability to work successfully with other team members is a must

• Successful candidate must be willing to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays

$35,817.40 with benefits (Full-Time)

$13.00 - $15.00/hour DOQ, no benefits (Part-Time)
