POLICE OFFICER

 

 

The Libertyville Police Department is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Police Officer.

 

The Village of Libertyville offers an excellent benefits package and retirement program with salary starting at $55,926 to a maximum $87,694 after 20 years of service (2011 FOP contract figures).  Police Officers are represented by FOP Union Lodge #33.

 

 

Applicants must: 

  • Have a high school diploma or GED equivalent

  • Be 21 years of age, except those applicants who are 20 years of age and have successfully completed two years of law enforcement studies at an accredited college or university

  • Be a maximum age of 35, unless a certified police officer or have active military service.  Refer to  ILCS 5/10-2.1-6 for exemptions.

  • Successfully pass a written exam, an oral interview, a background investigation, a polygraph, and psychological and medical examinations prior to appointment as a police officer.

Police officer applicants are required to provide a valid POWER Test ID.  This ID must be dated within one year of the receipt of the application at the Libertyville Police Department.  The POWER test can be taken at the Northern Illinois Public Safety Training Academy (NIPSTA), 2300 Patriot Boulevard, Glenview, Illinois.  NIPSTA charges a $30.00 administration fee for the test.  Current 2011 NIPSTA test dates are 9/17, 10/15 and 11/19.  Upon successful completion of the POWER test, applicants will be issued a POWER Test identification card.  Applicants are responsible for registering and scheduling themselves for the POWER Test at NIPSTA; www.nipsta.org, or by calling 847-998-8090.

 

The application package, with a copy of the POWER Test ID card and all other required forms, must be mailed or brought to the Libertyville Police Department, 200 East Cook Avenue, Libertyville, no later than Monday, November 28, 2011.  Only applicants who have submitted complete applications will be allowed to take the written test scheduled for Saturday, December 10, 2011.
