The Board of Police Commissioners for the Village of Lake in the Hills is now accepting applications for the position of Entry Level Police Officer.


Testing is being conducted to establish a new Eligibility List for anticipated hiring needs.


The Lake in the Hills Police Department is a full service staff that is comprised of one of the most professional and community-minded groups of law enforcement professionals in the State of Illinois.  The department is dedicated to the protection of all persons and property and committed to a vision of the future whereby compassion, integrity, trust, responsibility and loyalty are integral components of the service provided. You must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Citizenship:  Must be a U.S. Citizen

  • Driverís License:  Must possess a valid Driverís License at the time of application with the ability to obtain an Illinois Driverís License upon time of hire

  • Age Requirements:  Applicants must have attained their 21st birthday by the last date for filing applications (4/11/18).  Applicants must be under the age of 35 on 4/11/2018 unless exempt by State Statute 65 IL 5/10 Ė 2. 1-6 which provides, in part, that the age limitation does not apply to any person previously employed as a certified full-time police officer

  • Education:  Must have proof of High School Diploma, GED Certificate or High School Proficiency Statement

  • Residence:  Must reside within a 20 air mile radius of the corporate limits of the Village of Lake in the Hills at the end of the established probationary period (12 months)

  • Vision:  Must have eyesight correctable to 20/20 with normal color vision

  • P.O.W.E.R. Card NOT Required:  However, Candidates that do possess a valid P.O.W.E.R. Card issued between the dates of 4/11/17 and 4/11/18 Will be exempt from taking the Physical Ability Test on April 28, 2018 (P.O.W.E.R. Card accepted from: Triton or NIPSTA or Joliet Jr. College
