The Village of La Grange is a stable, mature community of 15,608 residents located in the western suburbs of Cook County. La Grange encompasses 2.5 square miles and is predominately a residential community with a strong central business district, two industrial areas, and two historic districts. In 1986, La Grange adopted a Tax Increment Financing (TIF) district. The median income is $80,342 and the median home value is estimated to be in the neighborhood of $271,800.
The La Grange Police Department employs 29 full-time police officers, and a Chief of Police. There are three Lieutenants, five Sergeants, and 21 Patrol Officers. There are no part-time police officers; all officers are full time personnel.
