The Village of Kildeer is forming a list with possible openings in the near future for experienced Police Officers to complement our Police Department.

The Village of Kildeer is a growing community located in the southern part of Lake County and consists of a population of approximately 3,900.  Additionally, The Kildeer Police Department is contracted to provide police service for the Village of Deer Park which has a population of approximately 3,500.

Qualifications:

• Previous status as a certified Police Officer in the State of Illinois for one year after completion of probation

• Valid driver's license and high school diploma or equivalent

• Pass vision and medical exam including drug screening

• Currently in good standing with the police department in which the applicant serves

• Possess substantially equivalent skills and abilities as a Kildeer Police Officer who has completed the probationary period, as determined by the Village

• Take and pass such examinations as the Commission deems necessary to determine fitness for duty as a police officer

The Hiring Process Includes:

• Application, initial interviews, background investigation, oral interview, psychological, medical examination, and any other process the Commission deems necessary to determine fitness for duty as a police officer

Current Benefits:

• Vacation: 2 weeks after 1 year, 3 weeks after 5 years, 4 weeks after 10 years

• Personal Days: 3 personal days per year

• Sick Days: 10 sick days per year

• Holidays: 7 holidays per year

• Uniform Allowance: $550.00 per year (uniforms and firearm furnished when hired)

• Officers work an 8 hour shift, 5 day on, 3 day off, 5 day on, 2 day off schedule with permanent shifts, bid on annually

• Medical & Dental Insurance: Village pays 100% of employee coverage and 80% of employee dependant coverage; AFLAC Insurance offered to employee and dependants
