All persons who are interested in the position of Police Officer for the City of Kankakee, the following are the basic requirements:

• Valid Illinois driver’s license

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• Good moral character (no felony convictions)

• Qualify on written test, oral interview and physical agility test (power test)

• Pass a background investigation, psychological and medical evaluation

• Must be between 20 and 35 years of age (must be 21 years of age at time of appointment)
   

An orientation and tutorial session will be held and will be announced in the application packet.  Attendance at this session is mandatory and application packet must be completed and turned in at this mandatory session.
