Kane Comm is a 24 hour, 7 days a week operation and applicants must have the
desire and ability to work any shift, including weekends and holidays.
Kane Comm is a continuous operations function of multi agencies, and Public
Service Answering Point (PSAP) for ten police departments and six fire
Working under minimal supervision duties include
but are not limited to:
system multi-jurisdictional calls from the public requesting police, fire,
medical or other emergency services;
computer aided dispatch system;
nature and location of the emergency;
contact with all units on assignment while consistently disseminating
information and updating the status and location of calls;
first responders according to established procedures, operating various
telecommunications equipment, and performing related work as assigned;
retrieving information from an assortment of computerized files; including but
are not limited to, missing persons, orders of protection, registered sex
offenders, stolen weapons, and stolen vehicles.
have previous Emergency Telecommunicator experience; Submissions from
candidates without the mandatory experience required will not be considered
for the position.
Must pass a
keystroke/typing test minimum of 35 words per minute, applicant testing, job
simulation exercise, oral interview;
background investigation; criminal history check, psychological evaluation,
physical exam and drug test.

Map reading is
