Temporary, Part-Time Telecommunicator











The Village of Itasca is seeking a temporary, part-time Telecommunicator for its Police Department.


The Telecommunicator is responsible for answering emergency and non-emergency calls for service and assign/dispatch appropriate personnel. 


This position requires the knowledge and maintenance of local and state records, the ability to monitor police and other radio frequencies, and the entry/use of Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD).  In addition the successful candidate must be LEADS (Law Enforcement Agencies Data System) certified. The candidate must be available to work on weekdays, weekends, holidays and various other shift combinations to fill vacancies as they occur.


You must be at least 18 years of age with a minimum of a high school diploma or G.E.D. with previous police/public safety dispatch experience. Qualified candidates will have a strong work ethic and sense of duty and responsibility as well as the ability to handle confidential material in a discreet manner, respond accurately and promptly to multiple tasks simultaneously under stressful conditions and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.


Knowledge of the care and use of office equipment, including computer terminals facsimile machines, and typewriters are required.  Good basic computer software abilities including Microsoft Windows, Office and ability to learn new programs. The ability to follow written and spoken instructions, perform basic mathematics, perform multiple tasks, work with minimal supervision, and the ability to work under stressful situations are essential.



This position offers $20.00 per hour as starting rate of pay.
